If you are considering Hudson Rotary:

There are some things we would like you to know about.

Your friends and neighbors who are Rotarians feel they are getting as much from the organization as they are asked to give. But Rotary is not for everyone – it is not just a ‘breakfast club’, and while we are eager to build better friendships, Rotary is not a just a ‘social’ club.

Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “It is one of the beautiful compensations of this life that no man can sincerely try to help another without helping himself”. This explains as well as anything the satisfaction we get out of community service. Hudson Rotary is a great way to become involved in and stay aware of your community.

Come visit us and see for yourself.  We appreciate your interest in Rotary. We are eager to have you join us in fellowship and service to the community of Hudson.

As you undertake the responsibilities of a Rotarian, we would like to have you be aware of both the world-wide Rotary tradition and the expectations that we have of a member in our local club.

The local financial requirements are clear and predictable. Initiation is $125 and annual dues are currently $160. This amount was recently increased to assure us that our own club expenses are covered by the membership dues and, consequently, any moneys we raise from community are 100% returned to community service. Local dues cover district and national dues. There are no

additional assessments.

However, during the year, our club engages on a number of service projects to benefit our own community. Many of these will require your participation – in time.

In addition, two of our service projects require your participation either in service or financially:

First, the annual Rose Sale provides scholarships for local students. We ask each Rotarian to either sell $75 (5 doz.) roses to friends and neighbors or contribute same to our scholarship fund. Secondly, our annual Auction / Raffle, benefiting a different local cause each year, requires that each member either sell [4] $50 tickets or buy them for her/his self and guests.

Hudson Rotary Club breakfast meetings are each Wednesday morning at 7:15. Laurel Lake provides ‘all you can eat’ for $7.50 on the quarterly plan.

In summary, the financial requirements of Rotary membership are modest – the time requirements are up to you. Beyond attending weekly meetings, we will urge you to get involved because the real satisfaction is in fellowship and service.

Beyond the financial and time requirements we believe you will find Rotary both a way to ‘pay back’ your community and stay informed and involved with a network of similarly active citizens.

Thank you for considering Rotary. For a summary of traditions and activities that you can get involved in wherever and whenever it suits you, visit our About Rotary Page. We invite you to give it a try – it is a very satisfying experience for us – we think it will be for you too!

To join Hudson Rotary, one needs to:

1] be sponsored by a current member

2] attend three meetings to meet members and demonstrate interest

3] be published, as a candidate, in two weekly bulletins – allowing members to comment

4] receive an approval by the Club Board of Directors which meets monthly.
